DELLO'S HOLE-IN-ONE AWARD
|
You know there is a story behind this lovely gift. Ruth was presented the award this year for a fabulous shot we learned she made last year in Douglas.
Who would have guessed that after finishing her business in the restroom, she stood up and the ball fell out of her pocket, bounced once and then went straight into the hole!
Good Job, Ruth!
We didn't ask if she used her ball retreiver to get the ball!

Hi Ladies,
I'm looking forward to seeing all of you who I met in Douglas last year. I've grown a bit since and lost most of the black and brown color but I'm sure you will still
recognize me. Hopefully, they will let me ride around in a golf cart and help take photos again.

Our Chosen Local Charity |
Thayne Senior Center
|
Their mission: Enrich the quality of life by promoting independence and vitality for seniors in the community.
Meals are served weekdays from Noon to 1:00 PM. In addition they
offer a range of services including delivery of meals to homebound seniors, a van service to transport clients to the center or to appointments,
a library and a medical equipment loan closet. They also offer health clinics (hearing tests, counseling and hearing aid repairs; foot care), card games, classes and many
activities.
|
|
Today (8/5/2016), after all other tournament expenses had been paid, we closed out the 2016 SVR Tournament account by presenting our final check to the Thayne Senior Center.
The $11,650 check was presented by Bonnie Johnson and Cathy Toolson.
Click on the photo for a larger view.
This unbelievable amount was achieved in a number of ways. FIRST, we contacted the senior center way back in early August, 2015 and
told them we had selected them as our charity. We then asked them for their help. And help they did. Starting in early April of
this year, they went out to solicite donations for tee box advertising. They were able to collect 39 sponsors for $150 per hole. Some
donated more than one hole. In addition, the senior center is known for their wonderful cinnamon rolls so we ask if they could
contribute them for our breakfast one morning. They also donated sweet breads for the second breakfast. So before we even had our
tournament we had $5,820 in charitable donations. LESSON LEARNED - Ask your charity to help and your community will respond.
We also must thank our entire tournament committee for their hard work and dedication in collecting donated items for the silent auction and raffles.
And last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to all of our WSWGA members and your generosity in making this tournament such a
huge financial success.

|
A Big Thank You to all the folks at the Cedar Creek Golf Course that made our tournament such a success.
The course was in great shape and those greens were FAST.
