Nothing is worse than trying to have fun with a bunch of serious golfers, but we WSWGA gals know our tournament is all about having FUN..

At the BBQ..
The Douglas Ladies Golf Association (DLGA) hosted a backyard BBQ on Monday evening after the practice round. It proved to be a great ice breaker and an opportunity for members from around the state to meet again and spend time in a relaxed social setting. The food was delicious, the weather was great and everyone had a most enjoyable evening.

T.R.A.S.H.

The ladies group T.R.A.S.H. from Rapid City, SD, entertained us at our general meeting on Tuesday evening. T.R.A.S.H. stands for "Truly Rational And Sane Humans" (offstage) and onstage are anything but sane or rational. As a group of wacko physician affiliated women (wives, daughters, etc.), they enjoy poking fun at nearly everything as they sing their own songs with loosely based medical themes, writing and preforming special and personalized songs for each group that books them. For example, in our performance they poked fun at both women and men and had all of us in hysterics as we all laughed throughout the evening. The group has been performing for over 30 years and have raised well over $250,000 which has been donated to health and community-related charities and causes.

Our New Mascot...
Zoey
The adorable, Zoey Logan, an 8 week old Maltese / Shih-Tzu mix (aka Malshi), blessed us by attending our tournament and immediately became a big hit. Everyone quickly became her best friend, and she loved every minute of it. Weighing in at just 2 lbs., she wore out quickly by day 3, which was a real blessing on the long drive back to Cody Wednesday night. But she had such a good time that she's already planning on next year's trip to Star Valley to see everyone again!

The 18 metal teebox markers (made by Marjorie Lokken) were auctioned off after the tournament. This auction raised $1,740 (averaging $97 each). The lucky successful bidders were:
Ruth Anne Atnip, Mary Comings, Lavonne Compton, Pat Duncan, Trudy Durfee, Carole Grosch, Lois Jantz, Bonnie Johnson, Kendall Laird, Georgia Moore, Marty Jo Ortiz, Leslie Petersen, Nan Probst, Brenda Stutheit, Sandy Thomas and Sandy Wilson.

Thank you ladies for your wonderful support.

It always amazes me how each tournament committee makes each year special. Douglas girls, the flag prizes were beautiful, TRASH was a hoot (my stomach hurt from laughing), raffle prizes and tee prizes were incredible, but most important, the golf was such fun. We truly are an incredible organization, and I am blessed to be a part of it. See you next year in Star Valley. Make your reservations now.

I just checked the WSWGA website. What a great job John has done with it. His pictures are super and what a neat idea the pictures of the golf bags was. Best of all is the WSWGA mascot! She's even cuter than when I first met her! Lee, Joyce and Carol all told me she was the hit of the tournament, and I can see why. But seriously, what a great website.
