Cowgirl Up In Cody
When the going gets tough, you've got to Cowgirl Up In Cody. Just loosen your grip, swing easy and let'r fly long and straight.

It's not ALL about the golf, so don'd our cowboy boots, hats, bandannas and pigtails for the 2014 annual tournament and prepared for lots of fun.
Meet Your Tournament Committee Cowgirls
Back Row, L to R: Linda Campbell, Kim Dooper, Terry Livermore, Becky Aus, Carol Butler, Sandy Childers,
Zara Logan and Kim Borer.
Front Row, L to R: Chris Wolf, Diane Blakeslee, Sue Cram, Sarah Weedin, Lee Niziolek and Falinda Hall.
Not Pictured: Teresa Eicher, Lema Jamieson, Jeanne Russell and Sandy Shearer.

And the winners were...
Excitement abounded as Sue Edwards (Powell) on the left and Falinda Hall (Cody) on the right battled each other for the two top prizes. Sue shot a nifty 81-88 (169) gross to win the Medalist for the lowest gross score the first day. By the end of play on the second day, Falinda caught up with Sue with her own 88-81 (169) to end the two day tourney in a tie. In a score-card play-off, Falinda won the title and was crowned our 2014 Champion.
Congratulations Falinda and Sue!

Mary Jo Lewis (Powell) shot scores of 90-88 (178) gross and 70-68 (138) net to win the Overall Low Net award for the tournament. Mary Jo is a new member this year in the WSWGA and we sincerely hope she will be playing with us for many years to come.

It's not a dream Mary Jo, so you can open your eyes now! You're one of us Wyoming senior women golfers who not only loves golf, but likes to have fun!!     You "rock" girl!

            Congratulations Mary Jo!

Very Special Awards
Lois Jantz
Ellen Strube & Alice Stump

We took great pleasure in honoring three of our finest ladies at the awards ceremony.

Lois Jantz (Thayne) at the age of 85 years 7 months and 29 days was recognized as the oldest member playing in this year's tournament. She, with her zest for golf and fun, has paid her annual dues and played in most of our annual tournaments since joining the WSWGA in 1981.

Ellen Strube (Riverton) and Alice Stump (Thermopolis) were recognized as the two members who have the longest running streak of consecutive years paying their annual dues. Both joined the WSWGA in 1984 and have paid their annual dues each and every year. Alice says she has never missed playing in our tournaments since she first joined, and Ellen has only missed two.

Cody

You are our future. All 14 of you either played in our 2014 tournament, worked on one of our tournament committees or both and we thank you. By now, you have learned that our Association is not all about golf, but also about the wonderful friendships you develop with like-minded senior ladies from all over the great state of Wyoming. Those friendships will develop even further as you participate each year. We hope you had a fun time being with us in Cody and again thank you for joining our membership and your participation in our annual tournament. Hope to see you in Douglas on July 13-15, 2015.

$825 Was Raised Auctioning Off The Cowboy Hat Tee Markers
(That averaged $43.42 for each of the 19 hats.)
All were hand painted by Linda Campbell, Sandy Childers and Sarah Weedin.
ENJOY and thanks to those who won one.

How About Those Painted Golf Shoe Table Decorations
Some 20 of these table decorations were given away in a drawing to tourney participants.

OLDER LADIES

Here is a YouTube video called "Older Ladies" by Donnalou Stevens. It is pretty funny so we were going to show it on the big screen TV's at the Club House on Tuesday afternoon after play. However, with too many other things going on, it just didn't happen.

Turn up your sound, sit back, enjoy and laugh a little.

$6,012.23 Was Raised For Our Local Charity.
Many Thanks To All Who Made This Tournament Such A Huge Success.
Our Chosen Local Charity
Heart Mountain Volunteer Medical Clinic

Heart Mountain Volunteer Medical Clinic (HMVMC) is a volunteer staffed medical clinic providing free outpatient non-emergency acute and chronic primary care to eligible patients. The clinics, located in both Cody and Powell, provide basic medical care focused on wellness and disease prevention encouraging active patient particpation for maximum success. Approximately 60 active community members and professional doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health care providers keep the clinics open every Thursday to patients in the Big Horn Basin. Combined, both clincs handle about 650 patient visits annually.

The HMVMC takes no federal or state monies and is supported by contributions from concerned individuals, businesses, grants, churches, foundations, memorials and community fundraisers. HMVMC is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation.

Today (8/21/2014), after all other tournament expenses had been paid, we closed out the 2014 Cody Tournament account by presenting our final check to the Heart Mountain Volunteer Medical Clinic. The $6,012.23 check was presented by Zara Logan and Linda Campbell to the HMVMC Executive Director and some of his staff members at their Cody clinic.

To say the least, they were surprised, ecstatic, grateful and in shock of the amount. Left to Right: Doug (RN), Karen (RN), Jack (Executive Director), Zara Logan (WSWGA), Georgina (RN, PhD, Co-Chair Fundraising), Linda Campbell (WSWGA) and Helen (Greeter).

Mt. Henry just off the ladies tee box on hole #12. Upon his death, Jack Henry (an avid golfer and member of OGG&CC) had his ashes scattered here. It seems Jack was always hitting his tee shots onto or over this hill so his friends named the hill "Mt. Henry" to humor him. Thank you for all the time and work that you put into the WSWGA tournament. It was well run and I had a wonderful time. The make up of the foursomes (A,B,C,D players) allowed for a good pace. It is always fun to meet new lady golfers and to see old acquaintances again.

Amazing! Thanks, Cody, for another wonderful tournament. That was a record amount raised and donated to your charity. Everyone's generosity never ceases to amaze me.

Cody always does a great job with a tournament. Linda and Zara need to be commended. It will be hard for Douglas to follow especially with the entertainment. We all enjoyed the band and dancing, especially the line dancing. I do line dancing at our senior center, but can't remember the dance until someone else leads! John did a great job with all the photos. Just who were all those grey haired ladies? We all thank him.

Want to thank you for returning my entry fee. Wasn't expecting it as I didn't give much notice. Things got pretty hectic around here pretty fast. Was informed I missed a great tournament and a neat course. Will try again next year.
